BAA Big Bass Charity Tournament Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of entry?

  • $200 per team.

What is the tournament format? The tournament awards the top 3 heaviest bass per hour! Teams are allowed ONE bass in their boat at any time, but can weigh in as many bass throughout the hour or the day as they’d like!

What is the prize structure? Based on 100 teams registered:

  • $750 for the heaviest bass each hour
  • $450 for the 2nd heaviest bass each hour
  • $250 for the 3rd heaviest bass each hour
  • $300 Hidden Weight prize (closest without going over)

Where is the tournament? Big Rideau Lake, Eastern Ontario. You may launch ANYWHERE on this lake, and there is no formal blast-off: all teams will be able to go “lines-in” at EXACTLY 8am from anywhere on the lake.

Where is the weigh-in location? Teams wishing to weigh in a big fish, must do so at the following location (either on the main-lake side if it’s not too wavey, or, inside the Muskrat Hole area if it’s calmer inside). We will have banners on the outside docks to signify where the location is, from the water. https://goo.gl/maps/4okcE6oz2S69UTEK9

What is the money raised being used for? Great question! All proceeds will be donated 50% each to our two selected organizations: JDRF.ca, which is a worldwide leader in diabetes research, prevention, and cure. The other organization is SEATS For Kids which is an Ottawa based not-for-profit committed to ensuring every parent or caregiver knows how to install and use their child’s car seat safely every time they ride. This is Bass Anglers Association’s 5th year running this event. In total we have raised well over $25,000 for charity so far!

Half of all entry fees go directly to these organizations, plus all proceeds from everything else are also tallied up and donated.

How do I register? You need to visit this page to send in the registration form, and you will need to be able to pay with Interac Email Transfer once your registration is sent. Please only send in ONE registration per team. Please ensure you are able to pay VERY soon after your registration is accepted. We may give away your spot if you do not pay within 24 hour of being asked to do-so. Registration deadline is September 25 @ 7:30am for payment AND form.

Is there a limit on the number of teams? How does blast-off work? We are not actively limiting the number of teams.

There is no “blast-off” this year and we will be requiring all teams to commit to not fishing until 8am sharp at “lines-in”. You may launch anywhere, and start fishing at exactly 8am.
